Land Data champions authoritative data in the conveyancing community as it joins CIE as a Supporter

25 May 2023

Land Data has announced that it will join the Conveyancing Information Executive as a Supporter in May 2023, working with the trade body organisation to drive improvements and efficiencies in the searches market through the use of authoritative data.

Land Data is the regulator for the National Land Information Service (NLIS), the only searches platform with comprehensive reach across local authorities in England and Wales. NLIS was launched 22 years ago and has so far processed over 26 million conveyancing searches. Land Data also works closely with a range of government and industry partners to advise, educate and promote the use of authoritative data and, specifically, local authority searches.

Fiona Barron, CEO of Land Data, commented on supporting the Conveyancing Information Executive (CIE), “Both Land Data and the CIE are looking for ways to drive efficiency and improve data standards in the home buying and selling process. For Land Data, the role of authoritative data in the searches market is crucial – for conveyancers as much as it is for buyers and lenders. The new relationship builds strength, reach and expertise for each organisation.”

Chris Loaring, Director of CIE, said, “The CIE welcomes Land Data as a Supporter. The searches market is becoming increasingly fragmented, and not all searches are underpinned by the same regulatory standards, often to the detriment of home buyers. Land Data knows the value of authoritative data searches better than anyone and has unrivalled reach to Local Land Charge Officers across England and Wales. This is an exciting new relationship for the CIE.”
