Ordnance Survey confirmed as Industry Partner of Conveyancing Information Executive
8 September 2021
The Conveyancing Information Executive (CIE) has today announced that Ordnance Survey (OS) has become an Industry Partner of the trade body organisation.
Ordnance Survey is Great Britain’s leading mapping and location data business, with unique experience being built up since 1791. Their geospatial databases are widely used to underpin risk assessments that are critical in powering the UK property transaction process.
Chris Loaring, a spokesperson for the Conveyancing Information Executive said, “The residential property industry is evolving at pace, with the pandemic accelerating the adoption of new technology. As the sector continues to transition to a ‘digital first’ agenda the role of trusted data and accurate mapping becomes an ever more critical foundation of accurate and successful decision making.”
“The OS brings unique and unrivalled expertise and insight that will ensure high quality data remains the central consideration within the ‘digital first’ movement.”
James MacTavish, from Ordnance Survey’s Partner Team said, “The UK search industry has evolved and proliferated its services extensively over the last few years and key to this is location. It’s an equally exciting and volatile time for the industry. The potential for improvement is the underlying driver for so much business interest in modernising the real estate transaction process.”
“OS has long supported the Land and Property sector via its reseller partners through our most detailed base mapping capture, and aware of the importance both currency and accuracy play when it comes to geospatial data. We are therefore pleased to support the CIE in establishing a new governance approach to help wider market stakeholders understand what they should expect from a credible and robust search report.”
The overall purpose of the CIE is to raise data quality and content standards in property searches used within the UK conveyancing process. Its membership includes Argyll Environmental, Geodesys, Groundsure, Landmark Information, Mining Searches UK, PinPoint Information, SearchFlow, Ambiental, Glenigan, JBA Risk Management and Barbour ABI.
The CIE welcomes membership applications from all organisations that support the UK’s conveyancing industry. For more information regarding membership, visit www.conveyinfoexec.com.
